What are your opening hours?

Alpha Preschool is open Monday – Friday 9am – 3pm. We offer morning sessions 9am – 12pm, afternoon session 12pm – 3pm or all-day sessions which are 9am – 3pm. We are open Term time only.

Please see our 'Date for Diaries' for this year's term date and inset day.

What age can my child start?

We take children from 2 years old; these are sometimes funded by Swindon Borough Council (subject to eligibility.) You can also pay for your child to start with us at 2 years old, sessions are currently £12.00 for 3-hour sessions. The 3/4-year-old funding will start a term after your child's 3rd birthday.

Do you have a catchment area?

We currently do not have a catchment area, but a lot of our children are from the Freshbrook and surrounding areas.

Does Alpha Preschool have a uniform?

No, we do not have a uniform so the children can wear what they want to preschool. We do advise they wear non expensive comfortable clothing as children will occasionally get dirty whilst at preschool when they are playing. We do provide Aprons for children to wear during craft and messy play.

Are you affiliated with any local schools?

No, we are an independent Preschool. We work closely with the local west Swindon schools to ensure the children who will be attending the school has a smooth transition.

Please note that choosing a preschool out of your local area does not affect your child getting into the local school. School places are dealt with by Swindon Borough Council Admissions, and it is largely to do with your catchment area, not what preschool they attend.

Do you accept children in nappies?

Yes, we do, and we will change them regularly throughout the day. We do not supply nappies so you will be required to supply them for your child. All nappies are changed by the child’s keyperson. We will of course help children to transition from nappies to a potty or toilet. We have both and our toilets are child sized. We like to encourage independence in using the toilet but there will always be a member of staff supervising children in the bathroom and to remind them to wash their hands.

Will my child have a designated Key person?

Yes, when your child starts at Alpha, they will be assigned a key person. They will be responsible for your child’s specific needs, encouraging and recording their development through the EYFS curriculum.
